Telomeres are protective DNA-protein structures at the ends of chromosomes that shorten with age and cellular division, serving as a biological clock for your cells. When telomeres become too short, cells can no longer divide properly and may become senescent or die. Longer telomeres are associated with better health and longevity, while shorter telomeres are linked to aging and age-related diseases.
